Design Manager
Description
- A leading construction business with an exemplary record within Health, Education & Commercial Construction projects up to $120 million in value
- Established for over 30 years and have a strong reputation due to their quality of workmanship and consistent delivery of projects on time, budget and brief.
- Join a collaborative team and play a part in building a strong client relationship through open communication and ongoing collaboration
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver well-considered, quality design solutions
- Motivate and inspires designers to produce their best work using their full flair, experience, resources and talents in a cost-effective way
- Strive to eliminate health and safety risks in the design
- Assess the suitability of the proposed design
- Ensure completion and compliance of design management departmental procedures at bid and delivery stages
- Ensure adherence to the design brief/scope of service and develop a comprehensive scope of service for key stages of project
- Make and review design changes on an ongoing basis, identifying potential issues and resolve them with the design team and specialist subcontractors
- Monitor progress and report to the project team
- Ensure that design is developed in line with commercial and construction requirements and the cost plan budget allowances
Qualifications
- Relevant Engineering or Construction Management degree
- Experience in managing design on major projects
- Strong knowledge of the build and design process
- Understanding of cost control and experience working in both design and the build stage of major projects
- Strong communicator both written and verbal and good people management capabilities
- Progressive and team centric person who puts the team before self
