Work is underway on the latest round of road projects that will make Townsville Ring Road more accessible, with four new bridges and overpasses coming soon. This is part of Townsville Ring Road Stage 5 (TRR5) of the project worth $230 million dollars.

With a strong focus on using materials and suppliers from the Townsville area, Deputy Prime Minister and Infrastructure, Transport, and Regional Development Minister Barnaby Joyce has said that these works are already delivering benefits to our region.

Upgrades on Townsville Ring Road are still undergoing.

As much as 200,000 tonnes of material already delivered to form the new Bruce Highway carriageway and bridge approaches Minister Mark Bailey said that this is just one step in what will be an extensive process.

The work on the bridge piling has been going smoothly, with two of four major structures completed. Crews will continue their work in this area.

The Federal Member for Herbert Phillip Thompson said that this project is a step in the right direction and will provide much-needed jobs.

The Member for Thuringowa, Aaron Harper has assured that local contractors and suppliers will be able to reap the benefits of this project.

A joint funding agreement has been reached between the Australian Government and Queensland Government, with completion scheduled for 2023.
