A $722 million Western Harbour Tunnel tunnelling contract has been awarded to John Holland and CPB Contractors.

The Western Harbour Tunnel is a vital link in the ever-growing Rozelle motorway network, linking WestConnex with the Warringah Freeway at North Sydney. The tunnel will be 6.5 kilometres long and include three lanes each way for vehicles to travel through it quickly without getting stuck or delayed by traffic lights along this busy stretch of roadways.

The Metropolitan Roads Minister Natalie Ward announced that a new tunnel will be built to help ease traffic in the rapidly growing metropolis.

This month, the Member for North Shore Felicity Wilson announced that preliminary work including geotechnical investigations into tunnel design will start.

WestConnex is the latest in a long line of projects that has seen John Holland and CPB working together. The Rozelle interchange is being delivered for this project, with the Western Harbour Tunnel contract ensuring work on tunneling continues as well.
