The Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) is looking to establish a material distribution centre in Narromine as part of their project for the Inland railway. This would be an incredible opportunity not only to do many things but also to bring much-needed jobs and investment into our community.
The initial groundwork for this project has already begun and it will be an important part of expansion along the 1700-kilometre Inland Rail alignment.
The Inland Rail interim Chief Executive Rebecca Pickering said Narromine has been selected as the preferred location for a southern material distribution centre due to its prominence and locality along this country’s newest high-speed rail line.
The Federal Member for Parkes, Mark Coulton said that this plan is a great win for the local community. It will bring many jobs and opportunities to people in Narromine as well as provide them with much-needed economic growth.
Pickering encouraged everyone in the community to take part and be a part of this planning process which has many months left before construction starts early next year.
The ARTC has launched a Review of Environmental Factors REF process to take into account all environmental factors. With pending results, work will commence later next year.
