Building Communities Consortium has been selected as the preferred contractor for Homes Victoria’s $500 million housing regeneration project in metropolitan Melbourne.

Icon Kajima, Tetris Capital, Citta Property Group, and Community Housing (Victoria) comprise the consortium, which will take care of the financing, design construction, precinct operation, tenant relations, and asset management.

The key objective of the project is to increase the availability of affordable housing such as social housing, market rental homes, and special disability housing. The project will include the addition of more than 1100 new homes in Brighton, Flemington, and Prahran.

Icon’s CEO Evan Byrne respected Homes Victoria’s initiatives for social housing and was pleased to partner with them on the project.

By combining the consortium’s skill and competence, Byrne said the company is keen to be part of Homes Victoria’s effort to provide Victorians with more sustainable housing and the agency’s commitment to the local environment and public housing.
