The Sydney Modern Project has topped out, doubling the exhibition space at Art Gallery NSW. The new extension will allow more exposure for Australian art and push boundaries with creativity by creating opportunities that were never available before in this country.

Premier Perrottet and the Minister for Arts Don Harwin visited a construction milestone today to announce that this $344 million expansion will attract some of the world’s biggest touring collections, diverting tourists from Brisbane or Melbourne.

Art Gallery NSW

The Art Gallery NSW will get an expansion by the NSW Government.

This new expansion will allow many warehoused artworks to be displayed and also provides an important destination for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artworks.

They say that a picture is worth 1000 words, but this one takes the cake. The transformation happening at the Art Gallery of NSW right now has been extraordinary and we should all be proud to see such progress made in our community.

The NSW Government has invested $244 million in funding for this project, and so far the Art Gallery has raised over $100 million through private donations alone.

With a vision to inspire, educate and engage Australians through world-class arts experiences of the highest imaginable quality. The largest government & philanthropic arts partnership ever in Australia just got bigger.

Director of the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Michael Brand is excited to see this building come together.

The new museum in Sydney, Australia is the first to earn a 6-star green star rating from Green Building Council of Australia.
