Aria Property Group has submitted a development application to convert the Merivale Flats at 105 Melbourne Street, South Brisbane, into a mixed-use retail and commercial development.

The existing brick building houses a cafe tenancy fronting Melbourne Street and two ground-storey units that face Merivale Street. At the rear, an air raid shelter was once used for storing supplies but now contains The Paladar’s coffee shop.

Aria Property Group has submitted a development plan for the conversion of Merivale Flats into a mixed-use retail and commercial building.

Twohill & James have designed a new office block that will change the use of these upper storey units. They are retaining their current layout but adding in some major renovations such as offices for businesses.

Retail space measuring 59m2 facing Melbourne Street will be converted into a shop with new fixed glazing, providing passersby with an attractive display window.

A new restaurant with two ground-level units will be built in the air raid shelter. It would offer food and drink seven days per week from 11 am to midnight. There would be 22m2 of rooftop terrace dining above the original structure.

With the conversion of this building to office space, there will be a total of six small tenancies on the upper floors.

To give the shopping experience a new vibe, Aria is proposing to transform Fish Lane into an exciting laneway.
