A contract has been awarded to Multiplex to work on the major airport terminal, apron, and airport facilities at the Western Sydney International Airport (Nancy-Bird Walton).

A wide range of works will be built within the precinct, such as the terminal building, plaza, a Metro rail station, a bus station, taxi ranks, car parks, pathways, and external ancillary buildings.

As part of the project, the interdisciplinary team is formed by Woods Bagot architects, engineering company Arup and specialist aviation consultants, Airbiz.

David Ghannoum, the Regional Managing Director of Multiplex NSW, stated that the company is delighted to have been awarded the contract. According to him, the airport will serve the needs of airlines as well as the West Sydney economy. Moreover, he said they will partner with local suppliers in every area of the project, collaborating with them to ensure maximum safety and minimize risk on-site. At the nexus of Western Sydney Aerotropolis will be Western Sydney International Airport.

The Western Sydney International Airport will be built in phases as demand increases, and a second runway is expected to be needed in the near future. Western Sydney International Airport is projected to begin operating as early as 2026.
