The City of Whittlesea Community Hospital is a new multi-million dollar facility that will provide integrated community health and specialist services. It’s operated by Northern Health, which has identified 1410 Plenty Road in Mernda as the preferred site for their brand spanking new hospital.

A construction site sighted by a group of construction workers.

The new hospital will be a solution to the overflow of patients at nearby major hospitals such as Northern Hospital in Epping, allowing it to focus on critical care and acute health issues. It’s also an opportunity for them to take pressure off by taking complex surgery cases- giving those who need it access without having too far away from home or family members that can’t follow up with these more difficult procedures.

The preferred location for the City of Whittlesea Community Hospital is close to the Mernda Train Station and local road links into a new town centre of Mernda. It will be in proximity to several community facilities including retail or dining precincts, which are set up already nearby.

The future of healthcare in Whittlesea is looking bright with the Land for City’s newest hospital being acquired. The construction of this project will start in 2022 and be delivered by the Victorian Health Building Authority (VHBA).
