The new Western Sydney International (WSI) Airport has been awarded to a joint venture of CPB Contractors and ACCIONA, who together will build a 3.7 km long runway plus rapid-exit taxiways. This is an amazing project that’s sure to not only creates more jobs but also boost Sydney’s economy by creating some much-needed infrastructure for its growth.

The new Western Sydney Airport will be the most efficient airport in Australia, with its CAT III-B instrument landing system. The design of this runway allows for better taxi times and prevents delays on the tarmac that can lead to frustrating experiences or costly mistakes by airlines.

The new airport will be Australia’s gateway to the world, with 90 kilometres of power and fibre optic cabling. It is expected that construction for this project alone should create around 1,200 direct jobs as well as many more indirect ones through flow-on benefits from suppliers or subcontractors.

Bede Noonan, ACCIONA’s CEO in Australia and New Zealand said that they were thrilled to continue their work for WSA. They stressed how this project will provide jobs as well economic opportunities by providing critical public infrastructure such as roads which can help grow Sydney’s economy.
