The Queensland Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Australian government to build the Pinkenba quarantine facility. This is a significant milestone for construction, as it will allow them to proceed on their end and finally get this project started!

The Pinkenba Quarantine Facility will be like the modular buildings at Howard Springs Facility.

The Federal Government has proposed a 1000 bed facility to be built on an Army barracks located in the industrial area of Pinkenba, meters from Brisbane Airport. The Commonwealth Department for Finance identified Damascus Barracks as a suitable site due to its size and access by the airport because it is owned by them too!

The proposed facility would be constructed by mid-2022 and it’s exciting to know that the Queensland Government supports a regional quarantine facility at Wellcamp.
