At Toowoomba’s Wellcamp Airport, a major new aerospace and defence precinct will be created. The Wellcamp Aerospace and Defence Precinct is the name given to the new area. Boeing Australia Holdings Proprietary Limited would build it on property owned by the Wagner Corporation.

The site will be home to Boeing’s new uncrewed-aircraft production facility which would make it their first outside North America. The Loyal Wingman is a first-of-its-kind autonomous drone aircraft being built in collaboration between the Australian Airforce and Boeing Australia with the intention for export around the world.

The precinct is a crucial opportunity for the community, according to Chairman John Wagner. The foundation tenant and an aviation-led recovery began with Boeing Australia as its cornerstone.

The construction and production of the new facility are expected to create 300 jobs, according to Wagner Corporation. Additionally, they say that 70 high-skilled manufacturing positions will be created when operation begins.

The Wellcamp Aerospace and Defence Precinct will be a vibrant ecosystem offering limitless opportunities now, as well for future generations. In conjunction with the Royal Australian Air Force, Boeing Australia has started developing six aircraft that are already in flight testing mode.
